About the job

As Regional Director India and South East Asia you will be responsible for managing the full cycle of debt investments to financial institutions in the Region.

Details: Full time, Duty station: India

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Advanced degree in finance, banking, business administration or economics. Professional qualification such as CFA, CAIA or FRM desirable.
  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in financial service sector of India and/or South East Asia sector in debt investments.
  • Experience in financial due diligence and financial statements analysis, including credit and financial risk management, especially in impact investments.
  • Experience in negotiating and structuring debt deals.
  • Proficiency in English, excellent communication and presentation skills, knowledge of one of regional language(s) is a plus
  • The position also requires travel assignments to developing countries and emerging and frontier markets.

For its business pillar - Rating - AfI has developed its AFISAS© tool to score companies in alignment to the United Nations´ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The business activities under the pillar Rating will be under the responsibility of the Director SDG Scoring. He/she will manage the expansion of business activities under this pillar, including leadership of SDG Teams, with an overall reporting to the Chief Operating and Sustainability Officer.

About the job

AfI is hiring a Senior Impact Analyst for its SDG Team. As Senior Impact Analyst you will be responsible to conduct impact assessments of each potential impact investee according to AfI’s impact assessment methodology. You will be instrumental in identifying new potential impact investing areas, their likely contribution to the achievement of the SDGs and respective process for impact measurement. In this regard you will refine the automated AFISAS© tool for selected impact sectors. Furthermore, you will participate in the process of promotion and sales of the AFISAS© tool, publish relevant material on the SDGs and establish collaborations with strategic stakeholders. Your will be responsible for your own business area and represent the Director SDG Scoring , in case of unavailability, as necessary.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Assessment, monitoring and evaluation of impact investments with the AFISAS© tool 
  • Working on the adaption of the AFISAS© tool for new impact sectors such as health, education, water etc.
  • Customer acquisition of impact investing funds in different impact areas
  • Representing AfI at external events (Comprising but not limited to Podium Discussions, Conferences)
  • Deputy to the Director of SDG Scoring
  • Establishing and overseeing income and cost structure of his/her business area to fit the overall Rating pillar’s Business Plan
  • Identify clusters of key actors in Germany and internationally that could be mobilized or partnered with on the SDG agenda
  • Drafting, editing and/or reviewing conceptual and technical material related to the SDG Scoring and the broader SDG discourse in Germany, Europe and internationally.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Advanced degree in finance, business administration or economics
  • At least 5 years of working experience, with a strong understanding of the financial and capital market as well as professional experience in impact monitoring and evaluation, rating or impact investing
  • Highly familiar with scorecards, impact assessment or rating tools methodology or development thereof
  • Proven track record of successful customer acquisition. Previous experience in sales and promotion of services necessary
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Highly familiar with sustainability issues and the SDGs. Knowledge on ESG (environment, social, governance) issues is a plus.
  • Proficient command of excel
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Demonstrates openness to change, ability to manage complexities and to work in a multi-cultural team
